National Accredited Technical Education Diploma (NATED) courses are designed by the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) to help bridge the youth unemployment gap.

With a Bachelor’s Degree pass, you can also further your studies at a university, provided you meet any additional requirements the university or course has.

Note that achieving a Bachelor’s Degree pass does not guarantee your admission into any university courses. Many universities have additional requirements to the Bachelor’s Degree pass, and some courses will have additional or higher subject requirements.

Be sure to check with the university you are applying to for any additional requirements for the course you are applying to.

Why Is A Bachelor's Degree Pass So Important?

The Bachelor’s Degree pass is the highest passing level at the end of Matric. Achieving a Bachelor’s Degree pass gives you the most options of all the passing levels.

How Many Points Does A Bachelor's Degree Pass Have?

A Bachelor’s Degree pass requires a minimum APS of 23. However, note that this is only the minimum requirement, and achieving it does not guarantee your entry into any university courses.

What Are The Requirements To Get A Bachelor's Degree Pass In Matric?

The requirements for a Bachelor’s Degree pass are as follows:

40% or above for your Home Language subject
50% or above for four subjects
30% or above for two other subjects
APS of 23

Can You Get A Bachelor’s Degree Pass If You Fail One Subject?

Yes, you can still qualify for a Bachelor’s Degree pass even if you fail one subject, as long as it is not your Home Language subject. You cannot fail your Home Language subject and pass Matric.

What Is A Distinction In Matric?

In South Africa, a distinction in Matric is 80% and above. However, at university, a distinction in South Africa is 75% and above.
