How Many Points Are Needed At Stellenbosch University?

The University of Stellenbosch does not calculate their minimum requirements using your APS. Rather, their requirements are subject-specific, and percentage-specific. The general admission requirements are:

  • 30% or above in a South African Language of Learning and Teaching (English or Afrikaans)
  • 50% or above in at least four other subjects, excluding Life Orientation

However, note that these are only the general admission requirements. Each Degree or Faculty may have additional requirements. Be sure to check their Undergraduate Prospectus for 2023 to check for additional requirements.

Also note that meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee your entry into the university. The University of Stellenbosch receives many more applications than there are available places in the university.

The university reserves the right to accept or reject your application as they see fit.

Does Stellenbosch Require Grade 11 Results?

Yes, the University of Stellenbosch does require your Grade 11 marks as well as your Matric marks. This is because application dates for the following year close in July of the previous year. For example, applications for 2023 close in July 2022.

This means you will have to apply using your Grade 11 marks to get provisional entry. If you are granted provisional entry, you will submit your Matric marks as soon as they are released. Then, the university will use your Matric marks to make a final decision on your admission.

Note that even if you are granted provisional entry with your Grade 11 marks, the university reserves the right to withdraw this entry or to reject your application after your Matric marks are submitted. Gaining provisional entry does not guarantee your admission.

How Much Is The Application Fee At Stellenbosch?

The application fee for the University of Stellenbosch is currently R100. However, this amount is subject to change. Check the University of Stellenbosch Application Fee page for the latest prices.

How Many Courses Can I Apply For At Stellenbosch University?

You may apply for three different courses at the University of Stellenbosch. This is because the university receives so many applications each year, places may already be full for your first choice of study, but you may still be able to get in for your second or third choice.

How Many Offers Can You Accept At Stellenbosch University?

You may only accept one offer. You may not study more than one qualification at the University of Stellenbosch at one time. This means, if you are offered a place in two or all three of your applications, you may only accept one. Once you have accepted one offer, the others will automatically fall away/be withdrawn.

When Can I Apply For Stellenbosch 2023?

The applications for Undergraduate studies opened on 4 April 2022. They will close on 31 July 2022. For other dates, such as financial assistance and accommodation, check their Applications Dates page
